A true masterpiece, this new timepiece features Greubel Forsey’s signature inclined balance wheel, which can be seen orbiting around the Earth in this uniquely designed dial. The exceptional technical quality of this watch is harmoniously unified with its intriguing conceptual basis, positioning our Earth as the centre of the universe, and therefore reimagining the universe as we know it.

‘The perfect titanium sphere with its continents, seas and oceans, is one of the [Greubel Forsey] Atelier’s most emblematic creations.’

Embedded in an amphitheatre-like construction, the GMT Balancier Convexe titanium Earth exists in a 24-hour rotation, emulating our planet’s own movement. Surrounding the amphitheatre are three rings, indicating hours and minutes in local time, along with universal time. When the 24-hour time zone is in the day, it presents against a white background, and during the night, it sits against a black background. Two outer rings display the local time, with hours in grey and minutes in black. Each indication has its own hand with a luminescent red triangular tip, creating the contrast that is key to excellent legibility. Finally, a second time zone is displayed with a blue gold hand in an off-centre display at the 10 o’clock position.

It is no surprise that the new Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe showcases only the finest level of craftmanship and is renowned by watch collectors for its astounding chronometric performance. Appearing to be suspended in mid-air, their iconic 30º inclined balance wheel is held by a beautiful black polished and barrel polished steel balance wheel bridge on polished steel pillars. This ensemble is completed by the small seconds display to the right, finished with a blue gold hand.

To achieve this dial’s incredible visual quality, Greubel Forsey’s new construction is accompanied by hand-finished titanium bridges with an all-new frosted texture, and a well-polished case interior. The dial’s depth is incredible. With each element perfectly visible, their new GMT Balancer Convexe is truly a horological spectacle. It is presented in the signature Greubel Forsey convex case, with a diameter of 46.5mm around the bezel and 43.5mm around the case band. As this watch hugs the curve of the wrist perfectly, the movement signifies a major technical feat, following an imperceptible slope…

UTC Reference City Case Back Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe

Of course, Greubel Forsey didn’t overlook any attention to detail with the creation of this new case back. Their disc with 24 time zones indicating the UTC time of the 24 reference cities has undergone one appropriate modification: the UTC of Paris is replaced by La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – the city where Greubel Forsey has been long established.
