Pearls: The Birthstone of June

June is the only month with a birthstone formed by a living organism. Pearls are grown in either saltwater or freshwater environments by a very small percentage of the mollusc species. Many of our own pearls are Australian South Sea pearls, which are renowned for their exceptional rarity and natural beauty.
