Alpine Eagle XL Chrono in Lucent Steel A223

A striking flyback chronograph fitted with a contemporary rubber strap, this 44mm timepiece stands out with its iconic Aletsch Blue dial and radiant Lucent Steel case. 

As always, the dial remains strongly inspired by the power of the eagle and the beauty of the Swiss Alps. The texture and sunburst pattern evoke an eagle's iris. The seconds hand with its arrow-shaped tip flies over a highly legible display punctuated by snailed counters. The hands and hour-markers are coated with Grade XI Super-LumiNova^®, a treatment offering the advantage of retaining the same intensity over the years, while naturally more luminous than traditional Super-LumiNova^®.

A bi-material case crafted in ethical gold and ceramised titanium is combined with a calfskin leather strap and Pitch Black dial to create this extraordinary 44mm chronograph. 

Harmony reigns supreme at the heart of this Pitch Black dial. Drawing inspiration from the colours of alpine flora and fauna, Chopard's Co-President and creator of the collection, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, wanted this hue as a reference to the intense black of mountain nights when wildlife reclaims its rights, reminding us of the extent to which night-time lighting linked to humans and urbanisation disrupts the way of life of surrounding animal species. As on all Alpine Eagle models, the dial retains its texture and radiant pattern, evoking the eagle's iris. The feather-shaped seconds hand flies over this highly legible display punctuated by raised counters. 

Chopard Calibre 03.05-C 

At the heart of both timepieces beats a highly sophisticated chronograph movement endowed with a precision chronometer certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). Developed and assembled by the artisans in the Maison’s watchmaking workshops, Chopard Calibre 03.05-C is one of the world’s most innovative chronograph movements. It has a 60-hour power reserve and features an elaborate design guaranteeing accurate adjustments and optimal use of the chronograph functions. Equipped with a column wheel, it is also enhanced by several technical innovations that have earned Chopard three patents stemming from the boldness of its R & D teams.

 First of all, it is equipped with a unidirectional gear drive system that prevents energy losses while ensuring rapid winding, a function much appreciated in the inherently energy-hungry chronograph category. In addition, its vertical clutch ensures accurate time-measurement starts. This chronograph calibre is also of the flyback variety, enabling smooth successive timing operations thanks to three pivoting hammers with elastic arms facilitating zero-setting of the counters. A stop-seconds function further enables adjustments of the watch to be at the pinnacle of accuracy.
