Based in New York, this family business brings generations of expertise and passion to this art. Behind every rare gemstone exists a story of intricate craftsmanship, transforming nature’s most beautiful gifts into heirlooms to be treasured for decades to come. 

THE HISTORY OF BAYCO

The family saga began with Amir Hadjibay, a young man with an entrepreneurial fervour. Traveling between Iran and India, he began to develop an interest in precious gemstones, trading them for elaborately woven Persian rugs. Soon he began to visit India’s regal maharajahs, leaving with bits and pieces of their legendary jewellery collections; show-stopping diamonds, carved emeralds and fiery rubies, among other gems. 

 After Amir moved to Italy in 1957, he used his considerable gemstone experience and contacts in jewel capitals around the world to take advantage of Italy’s post-war taste for gems and position as a trade hub.

A little over 25 years later, Amir’s sons Moris and Giacomo teamed up in New York, working together as co-CEOs at Bayco. It didn't take long for the two brothers to find success; they had years of individual and collective experience, gorgeous stones in their collection, and an exceptionally jewel-centric family history.

It was a simple progression to create their own designs, populating them with the cherished gems they know so well. There would be no mass production; the Hadjibay brothers decided from the beginning that they would create only one-of-a-kind pieces, the better to devote their resources to the greater glory of the exquisite stones they wanted to showcase. The family bonds persist into the next generation, as Moris’ sons Marco and Manuel, and Giacomo’s children, Nicole, David, and Sophie, have joined the company, bringing a youthful enthusiasm, vigour, and commitment to the future.

Bayco jewellery effortlessly mixes old and new trends; its pieces are often influenced by the Mogul era jewellery of the Indian maharajahs, classical jewellery which makes the beauty of each stone stand out, and modern design with a more edgy feel. Jewellery is eternal; its beauty never dies, so old designs and ideas live again when paired with a new neck or wrist. The story starts with the stone, but it does not end there.
